We were all off to see the eighth Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art exhibition (APT8). We? By that, I mean a busload of volunteers from the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery (BRAG). Seemed like a long trip (yesterday) – from Bundaberg to Brisbane and back. Up at 5am to make the bus by 6am. Back at about 7.30pm. A great time was had by all.
On arrival, a guided tour of a small part of APT8 at the Gallery Of Modern Art (GOMA) – then a bite to eat before we were all released freeform onto the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG), in the same precinct. My partner and I had a great fetta and salad sandwich each at the QAG café.
I will keep this post as a pictorial one – as you can Google the APT8 and get the details of it all: these artworks and the artists. Glad to say, both GOMA & QAG were not sensitive to photos being taken – except for a room of great Australian Artist Charles Blackman’s works. Not sure why. But pleased that overall, there were no snap-shottish restrictions.
Side-tracking the APT8 for a few moments,I was in my element with William Dobell’s “The Cypriot” – an Old Friend. Not Dobell as friend of course, but this painting – when I did HSC Art in Melbourne – a very long time ago. Have seen it in the flesh before, but still good to see it again.

A happy snap, honestly – but I have trouble smiling when concentrating on a selfie. The BRAG group behind me, at QAG, near the book shop.
But back to the APT8 exhibition – it was too big to see in a few hours, but the photos shown here were some of my preferences. I think BRAG had a similar bus trip 8 years ago. Here’s to the next one in 8 years’? time.
