No local Life Drawing classes where I am (again), so herewith another online video Messenger sketch done this week. The Messenger idea works quite well. Not as good as live, but still no comparison to drawing from a static photograph. It is still a two dimensional image, but oddly enough, a live session seems to have some three dimensional qualities. Oil pastels and 2B pencil.

Similarly, old paintings need to be undercoated, to make way for new works. It hurts, but someone has to do it. This painting “Skeye Pilot” got me a Highly Commended in 2012, at the annual Bundaberg Arts festival, now called The Bundaberg Art Prize. It is on again, entries close end of August, and is worth $20,000 in prize money. Ten grand of that is for the overall winner. I’m in! (when I think of something to paint). I’ll just wait for that Muse.
