Out of the archives . . . my first painting in the “River & Sea” series of about six (all different, but similar theme). I sold them all ($145 Australian each – about 50cm x 40 cm – acrylic & mixed media on canvas), but I think this one is my fave. Can’t beat The First Time, I guess.

I threw this white sheet onto my black leather sofa today and then noticed human form in its folds. Serendipity can be a wonderful thing.

I have been having a long break from the local Life Drawing group, near Buderim. Hope to start again in a few weeks. So in the meantime, drew some pics of Sunshine Coast model, Geny. I used to gain from a short break in the past. Was refreshed, and able to draw better. But not so, leaving it too long. This time, it has been many months, and I am rusty as hell. The one minuter sketches help with this affliction. Here’s one of Geny, drawn today. I like it: off the cuff, and un-contrived. Well, it’s a start for the year at least. My usual naive, cartoon style of course.

I am always fascinated by this photo – one from my archives. That monolith is not a Phigment of Photoshop by the way. And as I say many times on this Art Blog, I don’t do Photoshop, except in extreme circumstances (like, to protect someone’s identity for instance). Yes, the Monolith is real, and lives within a large piece of rain forest at the Sunshine Coast (Q. Australia). It was part of a rail bridge a long time ago. And oh yes, then there is The Nude. The Nude always seems to add an extra dimension of interest. Thank you, Olivia, for clambering over rocks and logs to the middle of the creek. Very noble of you.
