I have been wanting to move into Performance Art for some time, but have been wondering which direction to go. The photos here represent the beginning of the Performance: The private selling of my Unit in Perry Street, Bundaberg North, in sunny Queensland.

Here are the details of the unit:

BOHEMIAN LIFESTYLE for PRIVATE SALE – MY UNIT IN PERRY STREET, BUNDABERG NORTH, Queensland, Australia. I now need to emulate the ubiquitous Real Estate lingo here, as part of my Performance: “Neat as a pin – would suit first home buyer, or investor; or for a holiday home. It can maybe draw $200/week or more in rent. And rentals are rare as the Mona Lisa in Bundaberg. Body Corp fee is $400 per quarter. Council rates about $1100 per half year.

Price: $129, 000 ONO (please Share on FB etc) – Fully refurbished inside. Flood? What flood? In 2013, a 1 in 200 year flood that went only 8 inches over my floorboards – better than Hinkler Plaza shopping centre, ha. And that is happily up and running in town, with its multi-million dollar complex. There has never been a flood like that on record, ever. And I am close to wonderful river views. But I would rather be upfront and tell you all this anyway.

But just in case, I had flood proofing put in: Trendy (Arty? Poncy?) corrugated Colorbond walls, most power switches up high, polished floors – (beautiful timbers) – 2 bedrooms – car space out front – only 3 units total in the building – 15 minutes’ nice WALK to CBD over the beautiful Burnett Bridge – nice river view from the deck. Great neighbours. TO COMPLETE THIS ART PERFORMANCE: There is no hurry . . . whatever. A few years more is fine, if necessary. But I have lived in Bundaberg since 1977 (and in this unit about 7 years) – and feel the need for a tree change. The Sunshine Coast is calling me, with its art, music, cafes and restaurants. And besides, my Mother has just passed on at the nursing home (see previous post), so I can now feel free to move on, as she has. I think Dear Mum has been wanting me to stay nearby for all this time, and now she is going to let me go my way. Cheers, Mum. Admittedly, I love my life here in Bundy – and this unit has it all – a feeling of Home, a place to do my painting, or photo-shoots; some wine on the deck with my partner – usually at night with the city lights across the river, a nice view.


2nd Bedroom – with door opening onto deck. Great for music teacher; aromatherapy business, massage, etc. Clients enter via deck, and NOT through the unit. Hard to get a wide shot here, but room is: 3.2 metres x 2.8 metres.

And in the day, a short 15 minute walk  across the Old Iron Bridge (1890s) to town – to have coffee and lunch, or visit the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery (my second home); lots of things to photograph on the way – it has suited my flaneur lifestyle (see many of my photo-art examples on this site, of Bundaberg).
There is a beautiful park on the River near here (5 minutes’ walk). I often go there at dusk for my photo-art. BUT: it is about time to move on, hence this Performance of Life. Or is it just a bit of Real Estate blurb? Could be.

PRIVATE SALE: So that means there is some wiggle room on the advertised price of $136,000.
