“CARAVANSERAI” IS ONE OF 12 PHOTOGRAPHS THAT WERE AT MY “FRAGMENTS OF VISION” EXHIBITION AT BUNDABERG REGIONAL ART GALLERY, SEPT-OCTOBER 2011. IT IS AN EXAMPLE OF MY “FLANEUR FOTOGRAPHY” GENRE. AT THE TIME, IT WAS ONLY 2 YEARS SINCE I HAD MAJOR EYE TRAUMA (OPTIC NERVE DAMAGE), LOSING 90% OF MY VISION IN BOTH EYES. THE VISUAL RESULT IS THE SAME TODAY, BUT FORTUNATELY, ALL HAS BEEN STABLE FOR 5 YEARS. ALSO MY EYES, BRAIN AND EMOTIONS HAVE COME TO TERMS WITH THE CONDITION.THIS PHOTO IS OF A SERENDIPITOUS PAINT STAIN ON A FOOTPATH IN A PARK NEAR WHERE I LIVE. MY “NEW SENSE OF VISION” AT THE TIME, ALLOWED ME TO SEE OBJECTS SUCH AS FACES, BUILDINGS ETC., IN CHAOTIC PATTERNS, LIKE WE ALL SEE IN CLOUDS. AN ENHANCEMANT OF “PAREIDOLIA”, WHICH I STILL HAVE, DUE TO REDUCED SIGNALS OF VISION TO MY brain.
